Dustin matriculated from Kloof High School in KwaZulu-Natal in 2009 with excellent academic performance. He immediately continued on in 2010 with higher education studies at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN). In 2013 he graduated with a BSc. (Mech) Eng, becoming the third member of his direct family to earn a bachelor’s degree in engineering. Dustin’s final year undergraduate design and research group project involved his participation in designing and building an automated athletic field line marker which heavily developed his skills in mechatronic and electronic engineering, primarily in the development of digital surveillance, communication, and control systems.
In 2014, Dustin relocated to Cape Town to pursue an MSc in mechanical engineering at the University of Cape Town in order to further develop and expand his mechanical engineering skills set to meet and surpass the skills built during his undergraduate studies.
Dustin is currently in the first year of his MSc, which involves 60 credits of coursework and 120 credits of research and original thesis work. Currently he is completing the coursework requirements of the degree which include courses in finite element modelling, C++ programming, and continuum mechanics.
