Computational

The Research Unit has extensive computational facilities based around shared access to two Sun servers V40Z and two Xeon machines and various Intel based machines. Access to the Intel machines is by means of a computer lab which is linked to the University computer system. The Sun servers and Xeons are primarily to be used for large computational requirements. In most cases this will involve the Finite Element program ABAQUS, AUTODyn and LS-Dyna. Other specialised software is maintained on the PC's which log into a Windows NT Server. Access to the Novell network to facilitate the transfer of information between various systems can also be provided.
